LED type:

3528:
Subtle light, ideal for task or ambient lighting in small areas, such as ceiling coves, under cabinets, on stairs, and around windows.
5050:
Bright light, ideal for commercial or domestic use over larger areas or longer distances, like high ceilings, outdoor lighting, and wall washes. These also work for color-changing RGB or RGBW LED strips.
2835:
Much smaller and thinner than 5050s, consider 2835 SMDs an efficient replacement for the 5050, producing 20% more light with the same power consumption.
5630:
Basically a stretched 5050 with a wider viewing angle. The wider angle makes it easier to emit a brighter output with the same wattage.
2216:
Smaller and thinner than 3528s, you can get these in 300 LED/m or 420 LED/m, to achieve the best even light without LED dots.

Color temperature:

5000-6500K:
A bright yet cool blue-white light; great for displays and work areas that need high illumination.
4000-4500K:
A more neutral white light, considered best to reduce eyestrain; good for office and educational buildings.
3000-4000K:
A warm white light that works well in kitchens, offices, and vanities as task lighting.
2700-3000K:
A cozy light popular among interior designers who favor wood elements, as it brings out the detail in the grain; often found in quiet restaurants and inns or traditional homes.
2100-2400K:
A light with a soft, relaxing glow; mostly found in dining rooms, bedrooms, and other intimate spaces.

Protection rating:

IP20 (non-waterproof):
Dry indoor areas only, such as bedrooms, living rooms, cabinets, etc.
IP62 (silicon glue):
Potentially damp areas such as bathrooms and kitchens.
IP65 (silicon sleeve):
Damp or outdoor areas with no water immersion.
IP68 (silicon seal):
Underwater applications such as swimming pools or docks.

Strip dimension:

Myledy offers LED strip lights from 4 mm to 58 mm wide to fit all kinds of lighting applications.

4-8 mm: cabinet lighting, cove lighting
10-12 mm: regular lumen output for commercial or domestic use
15-58 mm: super high lumen output for task lighting, large profiles, etc.

Lumen output:

Depending on how you are using the LED strips, you will probably want a certain level of lumens.

510-1150 lm/m: accent or mood lighting
570-1700 lm/m: cabinet lighting
910-1430 lm/m: task lighting close to light source
1120-2250 lm/m: task lighting further from light source
1230-1840 lm/m: indirect lighting for bedrooms, hotels
1640-3220 lm/m: industrial lighting, signage, linear lighting

Current:

In DC circuits, voltage gradually drops as it travels along a length of wire, which can lead to having one end of your strip light brighter than the other. If you want long-run applications, we recommend 24-volt or constant-current strips, as 12-volt strips will lose voltage faster.

Maximum run length:
12V: 5 m
24V: 5 to 10 m
Constant current: 10 to 15 m

Other considerations:

Logo or batch codes:
All strip PCBs will have their production dates printed on them for easy reference in case of future issues. We provide logo or batch code printing on orders with a minimum quantity of 1000 meters.
Strip length:
Our default length is 5 m per reel, but we can customize lengths depending on the strip type.
Strip light color:
Our LED strips come in a wide range of single colors like white, green, blue, yellow, and orange, as well as multi-color strips such as RGB or RGBW.
Connectors:
We carry a large selection of connectors, clips, and end caps suitable for our strips.
Profiles:
We offer dozens of high-quality LED profiles and components for strip lights, with customized lengths and colors available.
